The tropical weather on Koh Phi Phi varies by season and month from hot, humid and wet to hot and dry. Koh Phi Phi Rain happens during the low season but global warming has effected the consistency of the standard forecasts and rain can come out of season, even in these high season months. This Koh Phi Phi Weather page has been put together from observations
taken since 1992.
We have also Rated the time to be on Koh Phi Phi by it's weather only. The low season months, when it is quiet can be better than the busy high season months as places like Maya Bay can be empty. Also Note, there are 9 km of snorkeling and diving reefs that are protected from low season winds making the island a truly all year round holiday destination.
Starts cloudy/rain/sun then dries out to sunny wind, some cloud.
Daytime: 30-34 degrees
Nightime: 27-31 degrees
Nights 40-50% starry.
Sea Temperature: 28.5 degrees
Low season. The first week of July is similar to the June weather but then clears out for the rest of the month. The island's gueshtouses can be full 45-75% of the month. The wind stays in from the west. As the sun moves north towards the Himalaya it leaves behind drier weather as the sun cools. This can make for some stunning weather though boat trips will be liable to
waves inbetween Phi Phi Ley and Phi Phi Don islands.

Low season. September is traditionally a monsoon month. The wind stays in from the west. The island's gueshtouses can be full 30-50% of the month. September is known for it's heat, humidity and the change of season. As with the first monsson in June, the humidity goes up and there are daily cycles of rain which cool the temperature quickly but then return the next day. On top of this the storm cells from the Bay of Bengal and any storm cells from the Pacific Ocean can be deeper and come with strong winds.

Cloudy, rain + hot sun, change of season to dry and sunny.

Low season. The first the 7-15 days of October has the last days of monsoon weather before starting the high season hot dry weather. The island guesthouses can be full 35-60% of the month. The start of the month can be wet, with occasional strong winds but many hot sunny hours inbetween. The wind starts at the beginning of the month in the west, it might flick to the south for a few days before the change of season and the wind moving in from the north east. The timing of the start of high season used to be November 1st for many years but global warming and El Nino type factors have ensured that this transition from wet to dry happens over a longer period and can arrive early or be delayed. Most years this can be a superb time to visit as it is pre high season guesthouse prices.

High season. The first 20 days of November can be influenced by storms in the Bay of Bengal or the tail end of Cyclones from the Pacific but on the whole the weather is hot and dry. After the rains of the monsoon in earlier months, visibility is glorious and it is a wonderful time to visit Koh Phi Phi. The island's guesthouses can be full 50-80% of the month. The weather is dominated by hot dry mornings with occasional cloud build up in the afternoon and occasional light showers. These dissapate to leave starry nights.
